SeaView performs inspections to 5800'
August 4th and 5th 2005 --
Quincy, MA: Over a two day project
in August, SeaView Systems completed two of their longest pipeline
inspections to date.
On sub-contract
to J.F. White Contracting Co. for the Massachusetts Water Resource Authority ,
SeaView deployed their in-house developed Long Distance
Remotely Operated Vehicle (LDROV) to inspect three
emergency outfall lines.
Mobilizing onto location was simple with
all equipment stowed in SeaView's
small 10' x5' air-conditioned trailer. This simplicity allowed SeaView
to minimize mobilization expense to their client by inspecting all three
lines from one onshore location. Three inspections were performed in
total running out to distances of 5800ft, 5600ft and 1400ft.
Each inspection was
performed by recording 3 channels of video to DVD along with continuous
profiling sonar data. The location of the LDROV was constantly
monitored and recorded along with the video as a text overlay and to
hard-disk for later report generation. Upon the return trip stationary
profiling screenshots were recorded at 100ft intervals giving a through
condition assessment of each of the three lines.
SeaView now has the capability to perform
inspections of flooded conduits of less then 20" diameter out to 8000'.
With prior notice, discrete restrictions as small as 16" can also be
negotiated.
