SeaView goes international
April 2005 --
Dexter, MI:
April 2005
was the month for international travel for SeaView Systems. It
saw SeaView complete two international projects, one in Canada and the
other in Australia. Co-incidentally, both projects were for paper pulp
mills.
The Canadian
project was for Neenah Paper in Terrace Bay, Ontario. Using their easily
mobilized LDROV SeaView was through customs and on location with less then
two weeks notice. The project involved a partial blockage of an
effluent outfall. In a timely manner SeaView was able to successfully identify the
cause of trouble which proved to be accumulated small tree branches lodged
in the line. The suspected culprit: Beavers!!
Just back from
Canada the LDROV was about to learn to fly. This time the project was
in Tasmania, Australia. The LDROV was packaged up complete with 5000'
of umbilical into three cases with a total weight of 506kgs (1115 lbs).
It's hard to
think of a location more remote from Dexter, MI then Hobart, Australia but
given our compact air-freight ready configuration SeaView was able to arrive
on location and execute the project for Australia Paper at a very
competitive price.
The inspection
involved operating from both sea and land (the sea portion off a 28' fishing
vessel!) The problem was found to be a
partially collapsed line which was clearly shown on SeaView's profiling
scanning sonar allowing an analysis of flow restriction to be conducted in
the final report.
SeaView
continues to make improvements and modifications to their in-house developed
system on a job-by-job basis and plans for more international projects are
underway.
