The combination of zero visibility, limited underwater access and a remote location can make ROV positioning and navigation a major challenge.
On a recent project in a flooded mine in northern Canada, a team from SeaView Systems and SeaVision Marine Service developed a 3-D modeling technique similar to that used in video games to position the ROV in real time and map any debris or obstructions as they were identified.
