Ovality Investigations
SeaView Systems have developed a means of accurately measuring any ovality condition in a pipe by mounting a Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) in an alignment frame that holds a profiling sonar as true as possible to the longitudinal axis of the pipeline. This frame also has 4 spring loaded probes positioned vertically and horizontally. The probes have small wheels that run along the wall of the pipe and drive 4 indicators on a graduated “bull’s-eye”. This system provides mechanical verification of the recorded sonar data.
