The SeaView SVS-603HR is a highly accurate wave sensor that reports wave height, wave period, wave direction and more via RS-232 and logs wave data, energy spectra, acceleration, and more to its on-board SD card data storage. The SVS-603HR is an augmented version of our legacy SVS-603 and represents the next level in accuracy and completeness for wave sensing electronics. Features include:

  • Very low power consumption; fits the smallest power budget
  • Very small footprint; sold packaged or as bare PCB
  • 3-D motion, rotation and compass heading in all dimensions to cover nine degrees of freedom
  • Sophisticated onboard electronics provide near-real-time wave statistics
  • On-board temperature compensation for highest accuracy
  • Outputs “First-5” Fourier wave coefficients for NOAA compliant data logging/transmission
  • Spectral RAO capabilities for custom buoy hull/platform characterization
  • Easy configuration to match your exact sensing rate and output requirements
  • Readily interfaced with transmitter using NMEA or other configurable data output
  • On-board data logger capable of logging as much as ten years of wave data

The SVS-603HR can be used to replace existing sensors, to upgrade existing buoys, or to add
wave sensing capabilities to even the most compact buoys. Among the wave data that are available as outputs from the sensor are:

  • Heading in degrees
  • Significant wave height in meters (Hs)
  • Wave period in seconds
  • Wave direction in degrees from north
  • Maximum wave height (Hmax)
  • Wave period at Hmax
  • Full wave spectrum (raw or processed)
  • Custom outputs as required

Other outputs or data manipulations can be incorporated via firmware updates or through calculations on the available data stream.

Available as a bare circuit board or in the SVS-603ME marinized enclosure, a precision CNC machined 6061 air-craft grade billet aluminum enclosure with an anodized finish. The enclosure has been pressure proven to 550psi. The IP67 bulkhead connector is available either on the top surface or the side, depending on space constraints and per the IP67 rating is water-tight under defined conditions of pressure and time (up to 1 meter (3 ft 3 in) of submersion). A 2m M12 IP67 connector cable is also included as shown in the photo below. Adapters to accommodate SubConn/SEACON connectors available on request (connectors/cables not included).
